Rara Avis

Such a mystery you are
With your dim eyes
And lengthy mane
In this world
You are unaided
But I’m not
Due to your presence
I think
Or I tell myself
I’m worth more
When you speak
It’s approval that
I seek
You give it
And I can breathe
A little longer
I shouldn’t care
Of your thoughts
Because (you’re)
Just a mystery
You sit alone
With your coffee
And people watch
But not me
I’m too far away
For you to see me
But you know me
and that’s scary
A mystery
So worthy
No man left behind
You take us in
You treat us kind
With your mystery
And your time
Such a mystery
